Math Needs You was created to help families feel more confident supporting math at home.
Many students don’t start off struggling with math—somewhere along the way, they lose confidence. We believe that change starts early, and it starts at home.
Our work focuses on creating simple, welcoming ways for families to engage with math in everyday life. Through community events, resources, and support, we aim to make math feel more accessible, less intimidating, and part of normal conversation.
We are building this work in South Jamaica, Queens, with a long-term goal of increasing engagement, confidence, and opportunity for students and families.

Math Needs You started with a simple belief:
Kids don’t fall behind in math because they aren’t capable—
they fall behind because they lose confidence.
I grew up in South Jamaica, Queens, and I’ve seen how early experiences shape how students feel about math. Too often, that experience becomes frustration, silence, or avoidance.
This work is about changing that.
Math Needs You is focused on helping families feel more comfortable engaging with math at home—through simple conversations, everyday moments, and community support.
This is just the beginning.
